Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) Funding Assistance Program

EPA Accepting Applications Until June 15, 2015
The  PowerHouse APU and 120V Idle Reduction Technology from Power Drives, Inc.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is accepting proposals for the Clean Diesel Funding Assistance Program through the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) program.
The program is aimed at projects that achieve significant reductions in diesel emissions, including verified idle reduction technologies.  Power Drives, Inc. manufactures The PowerHouse™ Idle Reduction Technology which is eligible under the program. The two PowerHouse models available are:
  • The DWS-APU ideal for road haul and run-through locomotives where shore power is not readily available at the end of the day.
  • The DWS-120V is the ONLY 120V Plug-in model and uses just 5 amps. The 120V is ideal for customers whose locomotives return to the same shop location at the end of the day and have ready 120 Volt shore power access.
Several key benefits of The PowerHouse Idle Reduction Technology include
  • Rail industry’s only 120 Volt plug-in idle reduction system
  • Smallest footprint for ease of installation
  • Reasonably priced with industry’s quickest payback due to fuel savings
  • Modular, two-piece DWS-APU mean easy installation and maintenance
  • Standard Remote Monitoring on the APU model to provide real-time data
  • Microprocessor controlled for fully automatic operation with no crew interaction necessary
  • Fully EPA Tier 4 Emissions Compliant, SmartWay-Verified Technology
